Teachers' Perspectives of the Extent of Implementing Distributed Leadership in the Department of Sports and Scouting Activities at the Directorate General of Education in Wasit
Abstract
The present study sheds light on distributed leadership, a style to be followed in many educational and sports institutions. The study also explores the extent of practicing it in the Department of Sports and Scouting Activities, which includes many supervisors and school team coaches, including academics, postgraduate degree holders, and veteran players. This provides a greater opportunity to share experiences and opinions, thus providing a real opportunity to practice leadership roles within the department. Therefore, the present study aims to identify the extent of practicing distributed leadership in the Department of Sports and Scouting Activities from the perspective of physical education teachers. The study employs a descriptive approach using a survey method. The research sample of the present study consists of 187 individuals representing physical education teachers in the District of Kut, affiliating to the Directorate General of Education in the Province of Wasit. The present study implements a scale with 28 items. The present study concludes that the senior management in the Department of Sports and Scouting Activities at the Directorate General of Education in Wasit possesses distributed leadership behavior from the perspective of physical education teachers. The more the department's mission is well-defined and planned, and the future vision is clear and consistent with the capabilities of its individuals, the more it contributes to achieving distributed leadership. Furthermore, the more the leader is influential and positive toward the members of his/her organization, the more they create a healthy environment within the organization and gain their trust, which contributes to achieving shared responsibility.
