The Most Common Injuries Among Handball Players In Iraqi Premier League Of 2024-2025 Season
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the most common types of injuries among handball players in Iraqi Premier League, and to determine body areas most prone to injury among handball players. The researcher used descriptive method and survey approach, as they were suitable for nature of research. Research population consisted of 60 players from Iraqi Premier League, Northern Group, according to records of Iraqi Handball Federation for 2024-2025 season. Research sample was selected from Players of Iraqi Premier Handball League, which are clubs (Kiwan, Salah Al-Din, Koya, Phosphate) The sample consisted of 60 players, and it was confirmed that players were registered in Federation's records of 2024-2025 season. Distributed Sample on Clubs as The following: 16 players from Salah Al-Din Club, 15 from Koya Club, 14 from Kiwan Club, and 15 from Phosphate Club. The researcher concluded that muscle injuries were the most prevalent among handball players in Iraqi Premier League, followed by ligament and tendon injuries, while nerve injuries were the least common. Thigh, knee, and foot were the most frequently injured areas among handball players in Iraqi Premier League, while head, neck, and upper arm injuries were the least common. The researcher recommended importance of proper warm-up before training and competitions, and stressed need for coaches and players to pay close attention to this. By performing warm-up correctly, you can avoid injuries from sudden movements.
