Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effect of squat jump and lunges training on lofted kick ability among U-17 football players of Integral Lombok in 2024.

Materials and Methods: This study used an experimental method with a two-group pretest–posttest design. The participants were 22 U-17 football players of Integral Lombok. The sample was divided into two groups using ordinal pairing: 11 players in the squat jump training group and 11 players in the lunges training group. The treatment was conducted for six weeks with 18 training sessions. Lofted kick ability was measured using a football lofted kick test before and after the training program. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and paired sample t-tests with SPSS.

Results: The squat jump group showed an increase in mean score from 27.36 in the pretest to 29.00 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test showed a significant difference, t(10) = -6.708, p = 0.000. The lunges group also showed an increase from 27.27 in the pretest to 28.45 in the posttest, with a significant difference, t(10) = -4.485, p = 0.001.

Conclusions: Squat jump and lunges training significantly improved lofted kick ability among U-17 football players of Integral Lombok. Squat jump training produced a slightly higher mean improvement than lunges training. Therefore, both exercises can be used as alternative lower-limb power training methods to improve lofted kicking performance in football.
