The Relationship Between the Competitiveness Level of Mobile Legends Esports and the Physical Activity of SMP Negeri 1 Mojoagung Students
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of competitiveness in Mobile Legends e-sports and the physical activity of students at SMP Negeri 1 Mojoagung. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The study population consisted of 28 students participating in the Mobile Legends e-sports extracurricular program at SMP Negeri 1 Mojoagung; the entire population was included in the sample using a total sampling technique. Data on competitiveness levels and physical activity were collected using questionnaires that had undergone validity and reliability testing. Data analysis was conducted descriptively, followed by the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the Spearman Rank correlation test using IBM SPSS.
The results showed a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.287 with a significance value of 0.138 (p > 0.05). These results indicate no significant relationship between the level of competitiveness in Mobile Legends e-sports and the physical activity of students at SMP Negeri 1 Mojoagung. Although there was a tendency toward a positive relationship, the strength of the association was low, suggesting that competitiveness is not the primary factor determining student physical activity. The level of competitiveness in Mobile Legends e-sports is not significantly related to the physical activity of students at SMP Negeri 1 Mojoagung. Student physical activity is likely influenced more by other factors, such as school policies, participation in extracurricular activities, gaming time limits, and daily physical activity habits. These findings provide information for the school to develop e-sports programs that continue to support the adoption of an active and healthy lifestyle among students.
