Physical Fitness of Male Students at SMPIT Sahabat Al Qur’an
Abstract
Objectives: To describe the physical fitness profile of male students at SMPIT Sahabat Al Qur’an Binjai using the Indonesian Student Fitness Test (TKSI) Phase D.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional survey included all 27 male students in the study population. Frequencies and percentages were reported for five recorded test components: sit-ups, standing broad jump, agility T-test, hand–eye coordination, and multistage shuttle run. Overall fitness categories were taken from the summary reported in the original study.
Results: Overall fitness was rated very good in 3 students (11.11%), good in 15 (55.56%), moderate in 7 (25.93%), and poor in 2 (7.41%). The modal category was good for sit-ups (17/27; 62.96%), standing broad jump (11/27; 40.74%), agility (15/27; 55.56%), and hand–eye coordination (15/27; 55.56%). For the shuttle run, the modal category was moderate (11/27; 40.74%).
Conclusions: Most students were classified in the good overall fitness category, while the endurance component showed room for improvement. These descriptive results can guide further assessment and school physical activity planning; they do not establish effects on learning or Qur’an memorization.
