Abstract

Objectives:
TrainingThis study aimed to determine the effect of short interval training and intermediate interval training on increasing the VO₂max of male futsal extracurricular athletes at SMK Sinar Husni 2 TR in 2026.

Materials and Methods:
The method used in this study was an experimental method involving treatment in the form of short interval training and intermediate interval training. The population consisted of 30 male futsal athletes. The sample consisted of 12 athletes selected using a random sampling technique.

Results:
Based on the results of the Beep Test (multistage shuttle run test), the pre-test showed that 8 athletes (67%) were categorized as moderate and 4 athletes (33%) were categorized as very poor. Meanwhile, the post-test results showed that 1 athlete (8%) was categorized as good, 9 athletes (76%) as fairly good, 1 athlete (8%) as moderate, and 1 athlete (8%) as poor, indicating an improvement in VO₂max.

Conclusions:
The study concluded that short interval training and intermediate interval training increased the cardiorespiratory endurance (VO₂max) of male futsal extracurricular athletes at SMK Sinar Husni 2 TR in 2026.
